Learning the Secrets of Cinnamon in Seychelles with Alain

Today, I had the incredible opportunity to learn how to harvest cinnamon straight from the tree, thanks to my amazing driver and fixer, Alain. He didn't just drive me around Mahé but also shared his deep knowledge of the island's natural treasures. Watching Alain expertly peel back the bark to reveal the fragrant cinnamon beneath was a true highlight of my day!

I'm not only grateful for the hands-on lesson, but also for the special and unique friendship I've made with Alain. It's moments like these that make travel so enriching — connecting with local people like Alain and discovering the traditions that make their culture unique!

Now that I've learned how to harvest cinnamon, I guess the next step is figuring out how to make cinnamon buns — and maybe buying a new suitcase just for all the cinnamon I'm planning to take home from the nearby trees!
