Sri Lanka: A Tropical Paradise – Arrival and Anticipation for the Adventure Ahead
Arriving in Colombo, I feel the familiar thrill of stepping into a new country—an excitement that always accompanies the start of an adventure. The moment I step out of the airport, the humidity hits me like a wave. The air is thick and warm, and I immediately understand that this trip to Sri Lanka is going to be a wet and wild adventure! The tropical climate and the vibrant energy of the country are palpable, and I can't wait to get started.
I have already arranged transport from Colombo to Beruwala, my base for the trip, located roughly an hour and 20 minutes south of the city in the Western Province. Despite the anticipation, the long journey takes its toll. After over 20 hours of travel without any sleep, I am beyond exhausted when I finally arrive at my hotel. But the promise of the next day's wildlife adventure keeps me from dwelling too long on my tiredness.
I spend the rest of the day unwinding and recharging. The hotel is a peaceful retreat, offering a much-needed escape to prepare for the busy days ahead. With an early start scheduled for tomorrow, where I have to be ready at 04:00 for my first wildlife excursion, I make sure to get plenty of rest.
Tomorrow marks the beginning of my journey into Sri Lanka's extraordinary wildlife, and I can't wait to see what lies ahead!
